The Perhentian Islands are situated off the east coast of Malaysia in the state of Terengganu. The two main islands are Pulau Perhentian Besar (the big island), and "Pulau Perhentian Kecil" (the small island) where you will find Crocodile Rock Villas.
getting here
By air: the nearest airport is Kota Bharu in Kelantan. A taxi from there takes about 1 hour to the Kuala Besut jetty. Alternatively, you can fly to Kuala Terengganu, which is about 1.5 hours drive, but the taxi fare will cost you twice as much.
By car: drive to Kuala Besut jetty terminal where parking can be arranged.
By bus: the nearest bus terminal is in Kuala Besut - a 10 minute walk or a short taxi ride to the jetty. If your bus terminates in Jerteh, you will need to take a 20 minute taxi ride to Kuala Besut.
boats to the island
To get to Crocodile Rock Villas, just take a speedboat to Chomel Beach on Perhentian Kecil. Speedboats to the Islands generally depart from Kuala Besut from 8am, around 12 noon-1pm and again at around 4-5pm. The journey takes around 25 minutes and it is not necessary to book your ticket in advance. In high season, extra boats are usually available every hour with the last boat of the day leaving around 5-5.30pm. Return boats leave the island at 8am, 12 noon and 4pm. Please allow 2.5hrs to reach the airport.
getting around
There are no roads or vehicles on the island - only water taxis and an island path which is very easy to walk. The Villas are less than 2 minutes' walk from two of the island's best sandy beaches. Chomel Dive Centre and its restaurant are conveniently located next door on the beach. Further dive centres and restaurants in Coral Bay are a 15 minute walk away and Long Beach is a further 10 minutes. A torchlight is essential for walking the path at night.

Please note that there are NO banks and NO banks or ATM cash machines on the Islands. At Crocodile Rock we accept cash or credit cards as do the larger restaurants, but bars and boats accept cash only.
